In 2019, I lost one of my best friends to cancer. He had been the one helping to maintain the website portion of BrokeAssTrips. Without him here, and in a state of sadness and shock at his sudden death, I took the entire site down.
I always intended and wanted the site to returned, however without any new travel, I could not reason with myself to bring the site back up. As I look back now at 2020 & 2021, during the height of the pandemic, I realize I easily could have used all that free time to bring the site back online.
However, like everyone else, I had other things to do. So I told myself there was plenty of time to do it later.
Then on the day after Christmas 2022, my best friend in the entire world called to let me know she had been diagnosed with cancer. Less than 14 days later, far quicker than I was able to make arrangements to see her, she lost her battle and passed on.
Losing my best friend smacked me upside the head. “There may not be plenty of time later,” I kept telling myself. Within a few weeks after her funeral, I have finally brought BrokeAssTrips.com back online. I even started an online store using the hundreds of thousands of photos I have taken over the past 20+ years of travel. You can visit the store by clicking the “Shop” button on this website.
